IdeasTap Launches Accelerator: Commission-Free Crowdfunding For Creative People

Clyde Smith | HypeBot | Aug 4, 2014 – IdeasTap is an “arts charity” or nonprofit based in London that supports young creatives with funding, networking tools and information. To further their mission they launched a commission-free crowdfunding platform with “Cash TopUp Funds” for outstanding projects. However Accelerator is for UK residents only and that’s unlikely to change given the UK focus of IdeasTap. Crowdfunding: a capital idea for commercial theatre

Matt Trueman | theguardian. | 25 February 2014 – Got a tenner to spare? Forget buying a ticket – these days, producers want you to invest in a West End show. Reckon you can tell a Wicked from a Which Witch? It might be time to put your money where your mouth is. The West End is turning to crowdfunding and it’s looking for a new breed of backer. “Theatre is normally quite an expensive investment,” says commercial producer John Brant. “It generally starts from £5,000 or £10,000 up, which obviously rules out quite a lot of people.” Bant and his co-producer Gavin Kalin are seeking…

The show’s producers are hoping to raise £250,000 via the Seedrs crowd-funding platform. Investors – who are able to back the play’s six-month run – can put in as little as £10 to help to stage the show. In return, they will…

Crowdfunding platform Emphas.is goes insolvent amid internal conflicts

Author: Olivier LaurentI’m currently conducting an investigation to understand why the company has failed,” says Pauline Atkinson, the liquidator appointed to Emphas.is, the crowdfunding for photojournalism launched by photographer Karim Ben Khelifa, photo editor Tina Ahrens and open innovation evangelist Fanuel Dewever. Emphas.is was born in early 2011 with an ambitious goal: to allow photojournalists to raise funds for their projects by appealing directly to their audiences. Emphas.is offered photographers a place to pitch an idea for a story, present their budget, and – if they received the necessary funds – keep in touch with backers with exclusive updates and early access to the work. A…
